What do we do

TogetherForTheBetterGood is a Strategic Ocean Advisory organization. We work at the intersection of ocean governance, financial structuring, leadership development and cross-sector collaboration- bringing what most conservation organisations, foundations, corporations, public bodies and for-profit organisations operating in the ocean space don't have in-house and can't easily hire.
Our services arise from the original Blue (Carbon) Governance Framework™ and can be provided individually or in combination.

1. Strategic Ocean Advisory

We bring what most organisations don’t have in-house — and can’t easily hire: the financial architecture, governance design, and capital markets fluency that turns a powerful mission into a structure the investment world trusts and the policy world respects.

Our advisory work includes:

Making your governance structure investor-ready

We design governance frameworks that meet the standards investors, donors, and institutional partners actually require — transparency, accountability, traceability of funds, risk management. If your initiative has the science and the mission but struggles to attract serious capital, this is usually the missing piece.

Embedding Ocean Rights and Ocean Governance into how your organisation operates

Working closely with Ocean Vision Legal and the Ocean Rights movement, we help organisations integrate the rights of ocean, the ecosystems and ocean-dependent communities into their governance and decision-making — not as a values statement, but as a structural foundation with legal grounding.

Together we are developing the Blue Governance Project — a collaborative initiative working to embed the Ocean into the heart of corporate and institutional decision-making. Recognising that healthy marine ecosystems are fundamental to economic and social prosperity, it develops practical governance models, standards, and accountability mechanisms that enable businesses and organisations to meaningfully integrate ocean stewardship across their operations, leadership, and long-term strategy. Inspired by emerging Rights of Nature frameworks, Blue Governance moves beyond traditional sustainability approaches to position the Ocean as a core stakeholder in governance and decision-making.

The Corporate Blue Governance Framework™ is currently in its pilot phase with a select group of partners. Get in touch if your organisation wants to be part of that early conversation.

In close collaboration with Ocean Vision Legal and the Ocean Rights Movement.

Translating between conservation and finance

We help your organisation speak both languages fluently — whether that means preparing for investor due diligence, designing a nature credit framework, or structuring a blended finance instrument around a marine protection initiative.

Strategic counsel when you need an outside perspective

Sometimes you don’t need a full project partner. You need a rigorous, experienced external eye on the governance, financial architecture, investment structuring, or stakeholder challenge you are already navigating — and the leadership depth to help you and your team move through it. We offer that as a standalone engagement, brought to bear exactly where and when you need it most.

2. Project Governance and Financial/Investment structuring

Strategic advice only goes so far. At some point, the governance structure needs to be built, the financial instrument needs to be designed, and the capital needs somewhere reliable to go. That is what this service is about — not advisory from the sideline, but hands-on implementation of the governance and financial architecture that makes a Blue Economy or Blue Carbon project fundable, accountable, and built to last.

A project without sound financial and governance structure is a vision without a foundation. Capital flows in but has nowhere reliable to go. Accountability is assumed but never designed. Funders lose confidence. Stakeholders lose trust.

With more than 60 years of combined experience, TFTBG brings deep practical expertise to both sides of the equation — and stays in the room until it is done.

Our work includes:

Programme and project governance– establishing organisational structures with clear mandates, decision rights, reporting mechanisms and safeguards that allow a project to standup to scrutiny from international certification bodies, impact investors and the communities it serves.

–  Financial/ Investment structuring– advising on and implementing SPV’s, investment funds, and – vehicles and other bespoke financial instruments that channel capital efficiently and with integrity to Blue Carbon, biodiversity and Natural Capital projects.

3. Cross sector initiatives

Some challenges are too large and too complex for any single organisation to address alone. TFTBG initiates and leads cross-sector programmes that bring together governments, NGOs, Science institutions, indigenous communities and the private sector around shared ocean and governance challenges.

Current initiatives includes:

North Atlantic Whale Corridor Framework (NAWCF)– a framework for the protection of the North Atlantic Whale Corridor- one of the most ecologically significant and pressure-exposed marine environments in the world. NAWCF addresses cumulative pressures from fisheries, shipping, offshore energy and coastal development through a coordinated multi stakeholder governance structure and a blended finance architecture designed for long term viability.

Healing Our Islands– A systems leadership programme bridging coaching, facilitation and indigenous wisdom across Asian, Pacific Island communities and global partners- working at the intersection of healing collective trauma, colonisation and ecosystem regeneration.

We are always open to exploring new partnerships and initiaves where governance, finance and purpose align. Get in touch if you see an opportunity to collaborate.

4. Coaching & Stakeholder management

Effective Governance is only as strong as the people and relationships behind it. Every transformation- whether in a coastal community, a corporate boardroom, or an intergovernmental process- depends on the inner capacity and relational capacity of those involved. This is where most ocean governance projects quietly fail. Not in the Blueprint. In the room.

At TFTBG, coaching and stakeholder management are not add-ons to our governance work. They are the foundation of it.

Executive and Team Coaching –We offer coaching for leaders and professionals navigating complexity, transition, and purpose across the ocean governance, Blue Economy, and sustainability space. Our practice is grounded in EMCC/NOBCO professional standards — competence-based rather than method-driven — drawing on Theory U and the Inner Development Goals framework as overarching lenses, while always tailoring to the person and situation in front of us.

Stakeholder Management and Facilitation– We design and facilitate processes that bring the full spectrum of stakeholders — from national governments and international funders to local fishing communities and NGO partners — beyond positional debate towards genuine co-creation. Central to everything is our Train-The-Stakeholder principle: building self-sufficiency so that project owners, NGOs, corporations, and local communities can carry the work forward independently. TFTBG steps in, builds, and then steps back.
